One of the most pleasant surprises from June’s Xbox Games Showcase was the reveal of  Star Wars Outlaws. This title from Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment is set between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and will be the very first open-world Star Wars game.

Ubisoft saw fit to treat us to another look at Star Wars Outlaws during the Ubisoft Forward event with a gameplay trailer. Now, we have a behind the scenes featurette that touches on some of the game’s plot points and its place in Star Wars lore as well as some of iconic Star Wars locations players will get to visit as well as a new world called Toshara, which has been “built from the ground up with the scoundrel’s fantasy at its beating heart.”

Everything that’s been shown so far points to greatness for this highly anticipated title. Could Star Wars Outlaws be poised to even rival Starfield? Only time will tell, but with a proven developer in Massive Entertainment (which is also developing the upcoming AAA release Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora) is seems likely enough that Outlaws will live up to the hype.

Star Wars Outlaws will release sometime in 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC.
