Spotify announced on September 20 that a long-anticipated addition is coming to the service: audiobooks.

Spotify users can now purchase and listen to more than 300,000 audiobook titles. The exciting new feature launches along with a brand-new UI designed to integrate audiobooks alongside music and podcasts.

Spotify audiobooks feature is now live in the US - onmsft.com - September 21, 2022Spotify users have been asking for this for years, and it’s nice to see it finally roll out. Spotify Vice President and Global Head of Audiobooks and Gated Content Nir Zicherman spoke on the features’ launch and had this to say,

We’ve always believed that the potential for audio is limitless, and we’ve been saying for a while now that our ambition is to be the complete package for everyone’s listening needs. But what we’re really excited about is providing a great new experience for listeners—introducing audiobooks to an audience of people who may never have tried them otherwise. By bringing audiobooks to Spotify, we have the opportunity to both grow the space as a whole and enrich listeners’ lives.

Zicherman also went on to say that the launch was just the beginning of Spotify audiobooks. You can learn more on the Spotify audiobooks FAQ page.
