Microsoft has pushed out a new firmware update for Surface Pro 3 owners. Though this is not a major release, it does bring a minor security change. (via Thurrott.com)

The update should be showing up as “Surface UEFI – Firmware 3.11.2450.0,” and there are no reliability, connectivity, compatability, performance, or battery life changes to report. Microsoft, though, does link to a security advistory on Spectre and Meltdown and says that the update “resolves potential security vulnerabilities, including Microsoft security advisory 180002.

Surface Pro 3 last got a firmware update back in October, then to improve the battery life of the device. The Surface Book 2, Surface Pro 4, Surface Laptop, and Surface Pro, all recently got bigger firmware and updates, as did the Surface Go.

Nice to see Microsoft updating its older products, even if it is just a security patch. Head to Windows Update now to download, and feel free to let us know in the comments below how this latest firmware is working for you.
