Microsoft has released a fresh set of firmware updates for its Surface Pro 5, Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop, and Surface Laptop 2 this week (via Neowin). These new firmware updates largely focus on improving graphics, connection, and system stability across all Surface devices. In addition, Microsoft addressed a bunch of security issues with this batch.
The June 2020 set of firmware updates has a comparatively short changelog that is pretty much identical across all the aforementioned devices, and you can find them all below:
- Intel(R) HD Graphics – Display adapters: 26.20.100.7639 improves graphics and system stability.
- Surface – Extension – 1914.13.0.1063: 1914.13.0.1063 addresses security updates and improves system stability.
- Intel(R) ICLS Client – Software devices: 1.56.87.0 addresses security updates and improves system stability.
- Intel(R) Management Engine Interface – System: 1914.12.0.1256 addresses security updates and improves system stability.
- Marvell AVASTAR Bluetooth Radio Adapter – Bluetooth: 15.68.17018.116 improves connection stability and enables the support of new products.
- Marvell AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller: 15.68.17018.116 addresses security updates and improves system stability.
- Surface Integration Service Device – System devices: 5.91.139.0 addresses security updates and improves system stability.
- Surface ME – Firmware: 11.8.70.3626 addresses security updates and improves system stability.
- Surface UEFI – Firmware: 235.3192.768.0 addresses security updates and improves system stability.
The release notes apply to all four devices receiving them, except for the Intel display driver and Surface UEFI firmware updates. The Intel(R) HD Graphics – Display adapters version 26.20.100.7639 applies to both Surface Pro 5th gen and Surface Laptop, and the Surface Pro 6 and Surface Laptop 2 are receiving version 26.20.100.7637.
Moreover, Surface Pro and Surface Pro 6 owners will see Surface UEFI – Firmware version 235.3192.768.0, but both the Surface Laptop models are getting version 138.3193.768.0. To download and install these firmware updates on your Surface devices, you should be running Windows 10 May 2018 Update or newer.
