Microsoft’s Edge Mobile Senior PM, Aneetha Jayaraman, announced on Twitter earlier today that the iOS and Android mobile versions of the Microsoft Edge browser would be getting a new shopping feature.
This new feature adds a shopping icon on the app’s start-up screen which takes users to a page of curated shopping items and deals. The Edge shopping feature also uses the device’s GPS to search for deals in nearby businesses and users can browse by item category or business distance.
Judging by the screenshots provided in the tweet (see above image), the Edge shopping feature appears to be powered by Bing. All of this functionality is currently only available in the US but it’s likely that it will expand into other regions soon.
It’s that time of year- the holiday shopping season is upon us! And we wanted to help make that experience easier. I'm so excited to announce Shopping on Edge Mobile!
