Microsoft still working on allowing the Xbox One to play Xbox 360 games

During Build 2014 last week, Microsoft’s partner development lead Frank Savage admitted that Microsoft is still working on allowing the Xbox One to play older Xbox 360 titles. This would obviously make the Xbox One much more appealing for those who already own an Xbox 360 with a plethora of Xbox 360 games.

When asked by an audience member during the developer conference, this is what Savage had to say: “There are, but we’re not done thinking them through yet, unfortunately. It turns out to be hard to emulate the PowerPC stuff on the X86 stuff. So there’s nothing to announce, but I would love to see it myself.”

As of right now, the Xbox One is not compatible with Xbox 360 game titles. “The Xbox One console was designed from the ground up to give you an all new experience. The system is entirely new and is generally not compatible with the Xbox 360 or original Xbox consoles. This applies to all accessories and games,” Microsoft’s Xbox support page states.

Perhaps Microsoft will resell all the Xbox 360 games as digital downloads for the Xbox One. Either way, we hope to hear more about this soon. Would you like to be able to play your Xbox 360 titles on your Xbox One?
