Microsoft has seemingly got back on the Wednesday 10am build release cadence with a vengeance, introducing three new Windows 11 Insider builds today.
Let’s dive in to the Dev Channel first:
Build 25188 is the latest Windows Insider build for the Dev Channel, and comes with a new touch keyboard setting, sets Windows Terminal to be the default terminal, fixes a bunch of stuff, updates the Microsoft Store app again, and has one big known issue.
“Show the touch keyboard when there’s no keyboard attached” now comes with three options, either “Never,” “When no keyboard attached,” or “Always.” As usual, there’s a long list of fixes, and one new Known Issue:
- [NEW] Enabling .NET Framework 3.5 from the Windows Features dialog will not work in this build. If you had it enabled prior to upgrading, it may become disabled. This will potentially lead to issues with apps that rely on these components. We’re working on a fix.
The Microsoft Store app will now start to show Microsoft Store Ads, those developer created ads for their apps, in search results. While seemingly another step down the road of way too many ads in Windows, this at least gives developers another way to increase visibility for their apps.
OK on to the Beta Channel:
As usual (or as usual as the Windows Insider program gets), the Beta Channel is divided into two groups, and 22621.856 will have any new features turned off by default, while 22622.586 may (or may not) include new features. Included in Windows 11 Insider for the Beta Channel xxx.586 are a set of fixes for 22622, and another set of fixes for both versions.
