HP recently teased a prototype for a new version of its Elite x3 Windows 10 Mobile phone back at MWC 2017, but it seems that the company could refresh some of its accessories, too. Today, our colleagues at Notebook Italia are reporting that HP showed off a new, bigger Lap Dock for the Elite x3 during the event, which like the mysterious Elite x3 prototype was protected under a glass case.
According to the report, this new Lap Dock features what could be a 13″ or 14″ display (non-touch enabled), a larger keyboard, an improved trackpad and full-sized USB ports. As a reminder, HP’s current Lap Dock is a $599 purchase and features a 12.5-inch Full HD screen, a backlit keyboard, a trackpad and USB-C ports.
While HP’s Lap Dock for Windows 10 Mobile Continuum is obviously not for everyone, the new hardware could be a solid laptop replacement for those who believe in the burgeoning 3-in-1 devices market. It’s still not clear if HP plans to bring this new Lap Dock prototype to market in the near future, but we’ll let you know if we learn more about the new device.
