Boot Camp now supports 64-bit drivers for Mac owners running Windows

Apple’s Boot Camp has been updated, adding support for the use of 64-bit drivers for anyone looking to run Windows on a Mac. Boot Camp can be used to install Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 on a Mac and the updated driver support will be welcomed by those who have transitioned to a Mac but found they just cannot live without Windows for one reason or another.

There are two versions of Boot Camp available, one for older models and one for newer ones. Anyone running an iMac from late 2013, a MacBook Air from mid-2013 or a MacBook Pro from late 2013 should grab Boot Camp 5.1.5640 from the download link below. Anyone running an old Mac should opt for Boot Camp 5.1.5621

Installation is pretty simple. Having downloaded the correct zip file, extract the contents before copying it to a FAT formatted drive. The installation can then be started by launching the setup and running through things in the usual way.

Have you tried running Windows on a Mac? How did you get on?
