The Lumia 650 has been a relatively well-reviewed replacement for the low-priced midrange Lumia 640. The newest in Microsoft’s line of first-party Windows 10 Mobile smartphones could very well be the last in the Lumia line if rumors turn out to be true, and its sales have been limited to the Microsoft Store. Today, that changed, as both B&H Phones and Newegg starting selling the Lumia 650.
In case you’re not familiar, here are the Lumia 650’s specs:
- 5-inch AMOLED Full HD (1280 by 720) display
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor
- 1GB of RAM
- 16GB internal storage
- MicroSD card slot
- 8MP rear camera with autofocus, 5MP front camera
- 4G LTE connectivity
- 2,000 mAh replaceable battery
Here’s the gist from our review of the Lumia 650:
Can I recommend the 650 as an upgrade over the 640? No. But can I recommend it over anything lower? Absolutely. All in all, this isn’t a device aimed at consumers, it’s a business phone at heart. Microsoft designed this handset with businesses in mind, and the Snapdragon 212 should be able to handle most business tasks with ease. Office, email, web browsing, all perform great on the Lumia 650. Just when it comes down to it, it will be slightly out-performed by the 640 and other handsets.
Both retail outlets are selling the black and white versions for the same $199 as the Microsoft Store, and so you’ll want to base your location of purchase on something other than money. In any event, no matter where you buy it, you’ll get it fairly quickly, and so get out your wallet if the Lumia 650 looks good to you and start spending some money.
