An apparent data breach occurred at Activision back on December 4 last year. According to TechCrunch, the hacker posted several images related to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 DLC release dates, as well as upcoming CoD projects “Jupiter” and “Cerberus.”
While that may seem innocuous to some, Insider Gaming has reported that the hacker was also able to obtain employee data including “full names, corporate emails and phone numbers, job opening offer amounts, places of work etc.”
Activision’s official statement on the matter seems to dispute this, however.
On December 4, 2022, our information security team swiftly addressed an SMS phishing attempt and quickly resolved it. Following a thorough investigation, we determined that no sensitive employee data, game code, or player data was accessed.
Only this week it is coming to light that Activision failed to inform employees of the breach at the time. TechCrunch’s report revealed that two Activision employees speaking anonymously told them that the company has yet to notify them of the breach or whether their data was stolen.
