According to a series of listings spotted by Neowin in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, two improvements are on the way soon for Microsoft Teams. The first brings over an Outlook feature to the app, and the second improves Together Mode to make it more accessible for everyone.
Labeled as Calendar Show As in meetings, the first feature mentioned in the roadmap should be familiar. With it, in Outlook, you’re able to set permissions for others to view the free or busy information in your calendar, to make planning meetings easier. Turns out that this is on the way to Teams, too, per the roadmap.
Scheduled for general availability in June 2022, Microsoft says the Teams version of this feature will allow organizers of a Teams meeting and participants to choose a Calendar Show As feature such as free, busy, or out of the office to show status for a scheduled meeting. Users should also be able to select private meeting functionality which will allow them to hide meeting details from other users when their calendar is shared. This is for the desktop and Mac apps only.
The second Teams feature coming in May 2022 relates to making Together Mode available for everyone. This is so that the Meeting organizers and presenters will be able to start Together Mode in the meeting for all participants. It will tweak Teams so that the leader of the meeting will no longer have to manually ask folks to turn on Together Mode.
As always, don’t hold your breath for an exact May or June release for these features. Usually, it takes a while for Microsoft to roll out new Teams features to everyone. At any rate, we’re sure the changes will be appreciated, so let us know what you think in the comments below.
