If the Windows 10 May 2020 Update started rolling out in the last week of May, Microsoft didn’t make it immediately available on its various Surface devices. Last month, we reported that the major release was still blocked on recent Surface devices including the Surface Book 3, the Surface Laptop 3, and the Surface Pro X, but owners of the latter may finally be available to install it.
In a Reddit thread spotted by WindowsUnited (via Windows Central), several Surface Pro X owners are reporting that they’re now able to install the May 2020 Update on their devices. Our own Arif Bacchus is also seeing the update on his Intel-based Surface Laptop 3, which wasn’t seeing it on Windows Update until now.
It took Microsoft four months to bring the Windows 10 May 2020 Update to the Surface Laptop 3. I'm finally seeing it on my end, today. Tbh, if it takes Microsoft this long to bring Android 11 to the Duo, I am a bit worried… pic.twitter.com/sQWS9l0yzb

As of July 22, 2020, Microsoft said that the May 2020 Update was available for all “seekers” who manually check for updates via Windows Update, and the company has also started pushing this update to devices that are approaching end of service. This month’s Patch Tuesday update fixed several compatibility issues that have been preventing users to install the update for months, but there are still two upgrade blocks in place for devices with certain Constant audio drivers.
If you own a recent Surface device, are you able to finally install the Windows 10 May 2020 Update on it? Let us know in the comments below.
