Skype Insider update brings back Split View mode on Windows, Mac, and Linux

A recent update to the Skype Insider app for Windows, Mac, and Linux has brought back the Split View Mode that used to be available in the now deprecated Skype classic app. The feature is currently available in Skype for Desktop Insider Preview 8.51.76.74 or newer, and you can turn it on by clicking the ellipsis button and then choosing “Enable split view mode.”

Split View Mode was already available in Skype for Windows 10, which is the Microsoft Store app that comes preinstalled with the OS. The standalone Skype desktop app looks exactly the same, but it also works on older versions of Windows, in addition to macOS and Linux.

Bringing back Split View Mode in the new Skype app was one of the top requested features from Skype users, and you can test it now by downloading the Skype Insider app on this page. Our teams are working hard to make it available for public release soon,” wrote a Skype Community manager on the Skype Feedback website.
