Good news for Minecraft fans, the closed beta for the new Minecraft Earth AR game is available starting today for some lucky fans living in London and Seattle. That’s right, the closed beta is starting in just these two cities, and the team plans to announce more cities “in the next few days.”
LONDON and SEATTLE, you’re up! As the first two cities to go live in the Minecraft Earth closed beta, all eyes are on you and your life-sized minetacular (specblockular?) creations!

For now, only select fans who signed up for the beta and who live in London or Seattle will get an invite. The beta is also starting on iOS devices, with the Android version following soon thereafter. The Minecraft team mentioned “thousands of invitation emails” in today’s announcement, so make sure to check your inbox you have associated with the Microsoft Account or Xbox Live account you submitted in your registration.
As the TestFlight infrastructure on iOS can only support up to 10,000 beta testers for an app or game, you’ll need to play Minecraft Earth at least once every 7 days otherwise your spot will be given to someone else. If you have yet to sign up for the closed beta, you can do so on this page. Minecraft Earth is definitely one of the most anticipated games launching this year, and we’re looking forward to seeing if it will be able to generate the same amount of enthusiasm as Pokemon Go did three years ago.
