Microsoft’ new Skype web app is finally dropping its preview tag today. The new web app launched last year as a web version of the new cross-platform Skype app, and it brings several new features to Skype for Web users like HD video calling, call recording, as well as Skype add-ins.
The new web app is quite an improvement over the previous version, but there’s just one problem: as of today, it only supports Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome on Windows 10 and macOS 10.12, and that leaves Firefox or Linux users out of the party. That’s quite problematic for a web app that’s all about bringing people together.
Microsoft didn’t say today if it plans to make Skype for Web available on more platforms in the future, but we asked and will update this post if we hear anything back. If you do use Skype for Web regularly, let us know in the comments what do you think of the new app and its limited availability.
