Chuwi has just kicked off a Kickstarter campaign for its new Windows 10 tablet, the Chuwi UBook, that comes with a detachable keyboard – uncannily similar to Surface Go.
Established in 2004, Chuwi is a popular Chinese OEM headquartered in Shenzhen. A global strategic partner for both Intel and Microsoft, the company has gained some footing in the international market with its budget laptops and tablets aided by availability on Amazon as well as Chinese online retailers like AliExpress and GearBest which ship its devices globally.
Made of aviation aluminum alloy, the UBook boasts of only 9mm thickness. While it weighs just 760 grams, that’s still about 200 grams heavier than the Surface Go, although the latter sports a smaller display size. Chuwi Ubook adopts a U-shaped kickstand similar to HP Spectre X2. It supports stepless adjustment between 0 to 150 degrees.
To go along with the tablet, there’s a thin, anti-splash detachable keyboard that’s also backlit and a 1024 pressure-level stylus.
