Microsoft Garage, the company’s space for employees to experiment on their own without the normal fear of failure, has a couple of new projects available for free, including a 3D printer design for Surface Pro 3 docking station and a new note taking app for Windows Phone.
The Surface Pro 3 3-in-1 Dock design is VESA-mounted dock that allows you to place your Surface Pro 3 next to your workstation in portrait mode, adding it to your regular desktop monitors. While Microsoft does sell a Surface Pro 3 docking station, this new design allows you to place your tablet at eye level. The 3D design is available for free and requires some assembly, but it could give Surface Pro 3 owners a new way to interact with their tablet at their normal desktop workstation.
The Garage’s latest app for Windows Phone is InstaNote. The app’s primary focus is to make note taking easier and distraction free as possible when you are in a meeting. The main component of the app works by allowing you to quickly tag and auto transcribe the last 30 seconds of a meeting with just the press of a single button to help you capture important ideas. There are also features to aide with identifying speakers and assigning tasks. The app is currently only available on Windows Phone but is listed as coming soon as a universal app.
If you are interested in these latest projects from the Microsoft Garage you can head over to their Workbench to download them for free, or to browse all of their other experimental apps like Maker.js, Receipt Tracker, and Work Item Studio to name a few.
