Following the release of Windows 10 Insider Fast ring build 17751, reports began popping up online of non-Insiders receiving notifications prompting them to update their Windows 10 device.
I had them send me a screen shot of both the notification and the settings page showing they are not an Insider. What else do you need? pic.twitter.com/26PAOgFzdW

Non-Insiders who received the notification were not automatically updated to the Insider build, however, it was apparent it was causing confusion of people thinking they were being forced to update when they didn’t necessarily want to. Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc confirmed that non-Insiders shouldn’t be seeing this notification and, following information sent to him via Twitter, the issue was fixed.
The notification wasn’t distributed widely, affecting only a small number of users, due to Microsoft resolving the issue before it fully rolled out.
