Panasonic is known for their tough Windows 10 devices, but the Japanese multinational electronics corporation is now taking the toughness to an entirely new level. Noted by MSPoweruser, Panasonic’s latest Toughpad FZ-G1 ATEX tablet is a Windows 10 device for use in “potentially explosive industries.”
The rugged device keeps to a 10.1-inch form factor and boasts up to 14 hours of battery life. It comes complete with Windows 10 Pro, the 6th generation Intel Core i5-6300u vPro CPU processor, and wide-ranging compatibility and connectivity options. Interestingly, it also features a hot-swappable battery and supports a 2D barcode reader, GPS, micro SD, 2nd USB 2.0, wired LAN or a smart card reader.
In the words of Jan Kaempfer, General Manager for Marketing at Panasonic Computer Product Solutions:
“Panasonic has been designing and building ATEX compliant rugged mobile computing devices since the safety standard was introduced 14 years ago… This latest rugged tablet is our most versatile ATEX mobile device to date, ensuring mobile workers in these safety sensitive industries have access to the same levels of computing power, functionality and design that other workers have. This is an intrinsically safe device without having to compromise on functionality and flexibility”
Panasonic notes the Toughpad FZ-G1 ATEX tablet comes with MIL-STD 810G and IP65 ratings. This means that the device can stand up to the elements, perfect for those working with Geo-Information Systems, maintenance and installation projects. It also is certified for use in the chemicals, oil and gas industries.
Pricing on the Toughpad FZ-G1 ATEX tablet starts at 3,028€. It will be available from February 2018 in the UK.
