Facebook has confirmed that it is ending support for several of its apps on older Windows Phone and Windows devices. On its Messenger blog, the company stated that they “will be ending support for messaging in some older mobile app versions of Messenger and Facebook.”
The company will be ending support for 3 apps across Microsoft’s platforms, which include:
- Facebook for Windows Phone
- Messenger for Windows Phone 8 and 8.1
- Facebook for Windows 8 and 8.1 PCs
Affected users will receive an e-mail and in-app messages notifying them that they will need to upgrade OS or device to continue using Facebook and Messenger, as the current apps will stop working. By the end of March, the company will have completely ended support on the affected devices.
