Retailers are now beginning to ship the Microsoft Lumia 550 in the UK, meaning we finally had time to go hands-on with the device. We’ll be writing up a full review in the near future, but until then here’s the unboxing experience and my first impressions of Microsoft’s first low-end Windows 10 Mobile device.
The Lumia 550 is surprising in a few ways, it has a gorgeous HD screen at 4.7 inches, and is actually pretty quick at getting tasks done even with a Snapdragon 210 processor. It’s sporting 1GB of RAM with probably helps with the situation too. The build quality is what you’d expect from a sub-£100 device, but it’s not bad. In fact, I’m liking the glossy white backplate!
Interestingly, this device sports a Nano-SIM, not Micro-SIM which is what Microsoft usually puts in their low-end handsets. You’ve also got a MicroSD slot for storage expansion too, as this device comes with a measly 8GB onboard storage.
