Pirate-themed online action adventure game Sea of Thieves turns five years old on March 20. And to mark the occasion developer Rare has released a new Deluxe Edition to coincide with both the anniversary and the launch of Season 9. Let’s break it all down below.
What to expect in Sea of Thieves Season 9
The ninth season brings 100 levels of progression and rewards to be claimed by increasing Renown. The optional Plunder Pass adds even more bounty to be had throughout the season. Also added in Season 9 are new Chests of Fortune—which can only be claimed by conquering a Fort of Fortune—and Fates of Fortune cosmetic set pieces.
Those who’ve achieved Pirate Legend status (all 1 million+ of you) can embark on new Voyages that will, of course, lead to new bounty. But all Sea of Thieves players will reap benefits from the new season with figurative boatloads of improvements, which you can check out in the release notes.
All-new Sea of Thieves: 2023 Edition
This new deluxe edition of the game is now available on the Xbox Store, and has been added to Xbox Game Pass.
