We now know that the long-awaited (and we do mean long—the game has been in development for almost a decade) Dead Island 2 will at last release on April 21st , barring any more surprise release date changes.

And to make Dead Island 2‘s imminent release all the more palpable, Dambuster Studios and publisher Deep Silver have released a new, 14-minute gameplay reveal trailer.

The trailer shows off a few of the in-game locales—specifically Bel Air and Beverly Hills—as well as a new game feature the trailer calls FLESH. FLESH is apparently a “dismemberment technology” which delivers “realistic locational damage.” At least, for those who have the stomach for it. As you will no doubt see in the trailer, Dead Island 2 will most definitely NOT be for the squeamish.

Dead Island 2 was first announced in 2014. The game was tossed around multiple development studios and has been delayed several times. Set in an open-world, zombie-infested SoCal with locations in Los Angeles and San Francisco, the game is a sequel to the 2011 original Dead Island. Pre-orders are now available for Dead Island 2.
