And while users can already access Teams apps in the Microsoft 365 Android app, Microsoft is expanding this capability to iOS users in public preview. This means that users can now easily extend their Teams personal tab apps to Android and iOS users with a single code base.
Microsoft added:
It’s easier than ever to reach hundreds of millions of Microsoft 365 users across multiple Microsoft apps and devices.
This builds on the Microsoft Teams JS SDK v2 feature that’s designed to support existing Teams app functionality while simultaneously adding the ability to host Teams apps in Outlook and Microsoft 365 app.
To be able to run the Teams personal tab apps on the Microsoft 365 Beta app on iOS, you’ll first need to join Apple’s TestFlight program. “Teams apps built using Microsoft Teams JS v2 and Teams App manifest (version 1.13) will start showing up in Microsoft 365 iOS app under the “Apps” menu,” penned Sheena Makker, the Senior Product Manager, Office Mobile at Microsoft.
Microsoft has provided in-depth details highlighting how a user can build a personal tab app and run it on Microsoft 365 iOS app. Once you get approval to join the program and sign into the Microsoft 365 iOS app using your work account, you’ll be able to see the apps acquired under the Apps section as highlighted below.
Microsoft’s pilot partners such as Adobe Acrobat and Zoho Projects have already published Teams tab apps that can run on iOS. You can also still find them across Microsoft 365 and Teams app stores.
