Everybody loves something free, right? And once you’ve paid for an Xbox One, as well as shelling out for an Xbox Live Gold subscription, it would seem only fair that some free stuff should come your way, right? Well… great news: the Games With Gold program that gave Xbox 360 owner access to two free games a month looks set to continue for the Xbox One.
In a tweet, Major Nelson announced that free games will be made available to Xbox One owners. Very little information is given at the moment, but it would be surprising if the scheme did not operate in much the same way as it did for the console’s predecessor.
The tweet explains that more details will be made available next year:
Great news: Access to free games each month is coming for Xbox Live Gold members on #XboxOne – Details coming later in 2014

At the moment, free games are made available twice month, with each game downloadable without charge for two week before reverting to the original price. It’s a marketing tactic that has been employed by Google in its Play store as well as Apple’s App Store. It is good to see that gamers will still be able to benefit from this program.
