Xbox Live Gold is getting a price increase this May for UK subscribers, with the annual subscription going up by as much as 25%. That sets the new annual price at £49 per month, with the quarterly rate also going from £15 to £18 per period, as well.

In a message sent out to subscribers in the country, Microsoft cites “changing market conditions” as their reasoning for the price hike. According to the email (via TrueAchievements):

As of May 08, the 12-month subscription fee for Xbox Live Gold is increasing from £39.99 to £49.99 to address changing market conditions. All current subscribers will keep their current subscription fee for 90 days. You will be charged the new price effective August 7, 2019 unless you choose to cancel your subscription before the next scheduled payment. For more information: https://support.xbox.com.

Luckily, subscribers will be able to keep their current rates for at least an additional three months, perhaps even longer if renewed for a whole year. For those considering subscribing, now is the best time to pick up an annual card before the new pricing goes into effect next month.
