In an official company blog post, Microsoft has revealed that the Xbox entertainment console is still number one in market share for the month of January 2013 and has been number one for 25 consecutive months now!

“Xbox 360 started the new year as the number one console in the U.S., marking its 25th consecutive month in the top spot with 281,000 units sold in January. Consumers spent over $338 million in January on Xbox games, consoles and accessories,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post. Microsoft plans to continue expanding the Xbox entertainment service by offering Redbox Instant movie streaming service, MTV, and PBS, to create a better entertainment package like no other. A Redbox Instant by Verizon subscription package will run you $8 a month for DVD movies, or $9 a month for Blu-ray movies, which combines four one-night credits for the latest movie release at Redbox kiosks. Xbox 360 users can use an app to purchase or rent the newest movies without a subscription.

Just recently during the D:Dive into Media conference, Microsoft revealed that there are 76 million Xbox 360 consoles and 24 million Kinects around the world since launch. Microsoft also revealed that there are 46 million Xbox LIVE members.
