Xiaomi is one of the largest smartphone vendors across the globe with major footprints in China and India. Back in March, Microsoft announced they are partnering with the Chinese manufacturer to test Windows 10 Mobile on the devices. Later, Xiaomi’s Hugo Barra said that Xiaomi users will be able to flash a fully working Windows 10 ROM on their devices and get a taste of the Windows 10 operating system.
As promised, Xiaomi, in collaboration with Microsoft, has released the Windows 10 Mobile ROM for a select group of Xiaomi Mi 4 power users (via ZDNet). Users can just flash the ROM as they do with any other Android ROM, and test Windows 10 Mobile preview on their Android smartphones. Xiaomi Mi 4 is the first device which gets the Windows 10 Mobile Technical preview.
Windows 10 for desktops and tablets are set to launch on July 29th with Windows 10 Mobile slate for launch later this year. The company didn’t announce the availability date for Windows 10 for Mobile. If the experiment works out in favor of the software giant if the Xiaomi Mi 4 users like the Windows experience.
