Gabe Aul of the Windows team has finally decided to push the big red button on the release of a new Windows 10 Mobile Insider preview build. Today, Mobile Insiders are being treated to Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview build 10549. As many have waited almost a month to get a new, stable and reliable build from the Windows team, the new build comes with a few caveats.
According to the Windows team, here are the known issues for those looking to upgrade today:
Known issues:
- After upgrade, you might be missing a few apps. If you experience this, the workaround is to reset your phone.
- After rebooting your phone, you won’t see notifications, such as new messages, until you unlock your phone for the first time. After that, you should see notifications for new messages just fine. This bug is fixed in a later build.
- You will be unable to make calls with Skype for Business, WhatsApp and other apps after upgrading to this build. The workaround is to uninstall and reinstall these apps from the Store.
While the new build does bring new features such as new emoji’s and messaging, and Cortana improvements, it still suffers from the dreaded ‘restart to make things work’ bug. Perhaps, this build will only need a single reset this time around.
Happy downloading, Insiders!
