While Videolan first teased a universal Windows 10 app version of the popular VLC Media Player app a month ago, we just learned that the UWP app could be nearly ready as developer Thomas Nigro shared some good news on Twitter yesterday:

According to Nigro, the Windows 10 VLC app may support an in-app Picture in Picture mode that would allow users to browse the app while watching a video. Furthermore, Nigro shared on Twitter that he would give more details about the app (including the expected release date) in a blog post today at 10AM PST, so we don’t have to wait much longer for more news.
The current VLC for Windows Store app received its last big update in August which brought a redesigned UI for Windows 10 along with other new features. The VLC Windows Phone app has also been well supported and Nigro shared in September that the app had been downloaded more than 3 million times. Please tell us in the comments if you’re excited by this upcoming upcoming universal Windows 10 VLC app!
