Upgrade to Windows 10 for free and maybe come away with a free laptop – onmsft.com

A couple of weeks ago, we told you about a Microsoft Store promotion, betting you a free laptop (a Dell Inspiron 15) that Answer Desk personnel could upgrade your compatible computer to Windows 10 in a day.

Intrigued, we asked how the offer was going, and how many laptops the Stores had given away. While we weren’t given any firm answers, Microsoft seems pleased, according to this response from a Microsoft spokesperson:

\

While I don’t have an exact number, we haven’t given away many laptops as a part of this offer. We are excited to see the positive response from customers and an increase in Answer Desk appointments for free Windows 10 upgrades this month. With less than a week left for free Windows 10 upgrades, customers are encouraged to take their device to their local Microsoft Store today to see if they qualify.

\

You can check out the details from Microsoft, but you’d better hurry, as there are only a few days left to get Windows 10 for free, as the one year offer ends this Friday, July 29th.

\

If you’re an Insider running 14393.5, you’re all set, and don’t need to do anything as you’re already running the Windows 10 Anniversary Update bits, but if you’ve been on the fence about upgrading, or even if you want to stick with Windows 7 or 8.x for now but still like free stuff, remember that you only have a few days left, time is running out!
