The top free, paid, and trending Windows Phone apps and games as of August 31st

The Windows Phone Store is home to over 300,000 Windows Phone apps, with new apps coming in on a weekly basis. Let’s take a look at the Windows Phone Store and see which apps are at the top of the charts when it comes to the free, paid, and trending categories. We’ll also highlight some of these apps that have made it to the top of the charts.

As of August 31st, the top-five free apps in the Windows Phone Store are OneDrive, Messenger, Facebook, Skype, and Pandora. The top-five paid apps are ProShot, 8.1 HD Tiles, Music Sense, Metrotube, and Translator With Speech. The top-five trending apps are EdmodoWP, NFL Now, Start Screen, Collage Guru, and Folders Pro.

The top-five free games in the Windows Phone Store are Hungry Shark Evolution, Subway Surfers, Major Mayhem WP, Fail Hard, and Tentacles Enter the Mind. The top-five paid games are Cut The Rope Exp, Angry Birds, Plants vs Zombies, Sonic CD, and Rabbids Big Bang.

  • Music Sense ($1.49) – Unlimited ability to download music with tags and album art into your phone
  • Translator With Speech ($2.99) – Translator With Speech translates speech or text into 54 languages and is the perfect companion when traveling.
  • EdmodoWP (free) – An edmodo client for Windows Phone is finally here, you can now catch up with your teachers and friends, you can see assignments, grades and more.
  • NFL Now (free) – NFL Now delivers a personalized video stream of your favorite NFL teams, players and coaches right to your Windows Phone device.
  • Start Screen (free) – This app lets you change the way the Start Screen looks on your Windows Phone device.
  • Collage Guru (free) – An app which quickly combines multi-photos into one framed-photo.
  • Folders Pro ($1.49) – Folders is a clean, secure and advanced file manager app for Windows Phone, with a simple, fresh and beautiful UI.
