There are now 5 million Windows Insiders

With today’s news outlining the Windows 10 rollout at the end of July, we also gained a tidbit about the number of Windows Insiders. According to the blog post, there are now 5 million Windows Insiders checking out the latest Windows 10 builds. The number of insiders is rapidly increasing. In January it jumped from 1.7 to 2.2 million, on May 1 it was 3.7 million, and now just two months later they’ve gained another two million.

The Windows Insider program allows users to test out preview versions of Windows 10 for multiple devices including desktops, tablets, and mobile device. Microsoft wants as many insiders as possible because the goal of the program is to receive feedback from users to improve the operating system.

The feedback users have given has been instrumental in making changes from UI to features. Microsoft continues to trend towards relying on users as they also have a similar preview program for the Xbox One.

Windows Insiders will also be also among the first to get the first version of Windows 10 for desktop that will be released to the public on July 29.
