Cyberpunk 2077, one of the most-anticipated games of the year that was expected to ship on September 17 has once again been delayed. A couple of minutes ago, developer CD Projekt Red announced that the game would now be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on November 19.
The Polish company didn’t specifically mention if the ongoing covid-19 pandemic had something to do with this new delay, but they emphasized that “Our intention is to make Cyberpunk 2077 something that will stay with you for years to come. In the end, we hope you understand why we did what we did.”

Cyberpunk 2077 is CD Projekt Red’s first game since The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a critically-acclaimed RPG released five years ago. Cyberpunk 2077 looks even more ambitious on a gameplay and graphics perspective, and it’s probably one of the few 2020 games that will push current-gen consoles to their limits. However, CD Projekt Red already announced that the Xbox One version would receive free enhancements for the Xbox Series X.
“At the time we are writing these words, Cyberpunk 2077 is finished both content and gameplay-wise. The quests, the cutscenes, the skills and items; all the adventures Night City has to offer – it’s all there. But with such an abundance of content and complex systems interweaving with each other, we need to properly go through everything, balance game mechanics and fix a lot of bugs. A huge world means a huge number of things to iron out and we will spend the additional time doing exactly that,” the company explained today.
With Cyberpunk 2077 now shipping on November 19, this could give more room to other heavy-hitters such as Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, also coming in Q4 2020. The Assassin’s Creed series clearly took inspiration from CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3 to reinvent itself with the latest two Assassin’s Creed games. Cyberpunk 2077 was originally planned to ship on April 16, 2020, and we really hope that it won’t be delayed even further.
