Yesterday was Patch Tuesday, the day Microsoft releases patches for all shipping versions of Windows 10. As always, these patches are meant to resolve security and other under the hood issues within the operating system. Unfortunately, it turns out that the August cumulative update for Windows 10 Version 1607 also has a bug, which impacts the Windows Update history.
According to Computer World, the bug is linked to the KB4034658 Cumulative Update, which updates the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607) to build 14393.1593. Apparently, after installing the cumulative update, the update history in Windows Update will be wiped clean.
Indeed this is a rather strange bug, as it has not been acknowledged by Microsoft. So, if you’re holding close to anything listed in your Update History, be sure to take a screenshot before installing the latest cumulative update.
