Surface Wireless Keyboard Adapter quietly discontinued by Microsoft

Back in September of 2013, Microsoft introduced the Surface Wireless Keyboard Adapter, which allows you to connect your Type or Touch covers to monitors up to 30 feet away. Now, it appears that Microsoft has quietly discontinued this product.

“Connect your Surface Typing Cover to your Surface wirelessly. The Wireless Adapter for Surface Typing Covers provides power and Bluetooth connectivity to your Surface Cover, enabling you to type from up to 30 feet away,” the product description reads. The wireless adapter was running for $59.99.

“Due to a number of factors, we are no longer manufacturing the Surface Wireless Keyboard Adapter,” a Microsoft spokesperson told ZDNet. “We are always evaluating our options and remain committed to helping people be productive with Surface.”

No word on exactly why Microsoft decided to discontinue the product.
