Microsoft’s 12-inch Surface Pro 3 is the company’s third iteration of its home-grown tablet device. The Surface Pro 3 is no ordinary tablet — in fact, Microsoft is touting the device as a tablet that can replace your laptop.
The folks over at Bloomberg have uploaded a short two minute video giving the world a quick tour of what’s called the “Secret Surface Lab.” In the video, we meet Surface creator Panos Panay and we are shown behind-the-scenes process of the Surface Pro 3.
We get to see the design process of the Surface Pro 3 – including the kickstand, the weight and size of the device, along with the stylus. This resulted in lots of iterations of the device, as the company worked hard to create a thin, sleek, and powerful tablet/laptop hybrid device.
“When Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella defined the future of his company in a memo to his 127,100 employees, he singled out the struggling Surface tablet as key to a future built around the cloud and productivity. Microsoft assembled an elite team of designers, engineers, and programmers to spend years holed up in Redmond, Washington to come up with a tablet to take on Apple, Samsung, and Amazon,” the video description reads.
