Starfield will apparently get a “Mature” rating from the ESRB

As reported by Pure Xbox and others, Starfield will apparently be rated “M for Mature (17+)” by the ESRB. This comes from the updated banner image on Starfield’s official Twitter account.

The ESRB cites violence, blood, suggestive themes, strong language and the use of drugs for the M rating. It falls in line with other Bethesda games like Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. In March Starfield received an R18+ in Australia.

The reveal of the game’s rating from the Entertainment Software Rating Board appears to be accidental, as the ESRB has yet to publish its overview of the game.

One of the most highly anticipated video games of recent memory, Starfield is set to release on September 6 this year. Ahead of that date, we’ll get to see more of the game on June 11 during the Xbox Games Showcase/Starfield Direct livestream event. It will mark the first brand-new IP from Bethesda Game Studios in over 25 years.
