Samsung Access – A new subscription on your terms

Samsung has announced a new phone-as-a-subscription program, Samsung Access, for US-based consumers. The new extra-care Access program includes flagship Galaxy S20 smartphones, additional protection and benefits such as a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription. In addition, Samsung Access allows you to

The extra-care Access program is currently available for as low as $37 a month for new sign-ups in the United States. Notably, the subscription includes the following:

  • You can choose between Samsung Galaxy S20 5G, Galaxy S20+ 5G, or the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, with monthly prices going from $37/month to $42/month depending on your selection.
  • The Samsung Premium Care service, which brings accidental damage protection, technical support, along with an extended warranty
  • A Microsoft 365 Personal subscription, which includes access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as 1TB OneDrive storage

The interesting part of Samsung’s offering is the rapid phone upgrades support, which lets you switch to a new device every nine months. However, people who opt for an earlier degradation can just need to pay a $100 additional fee. You can cancel your Samsung Access subscription after three months without any penalty, but those who want to cancel earlier still need to pay a $100 cancellation fee.

It is worth noting that this announcement builds on Samsung’s existing partnership with Microsoft, with their premium Galaxy phones supporting an exclusive “Link to Windows feature” feature. Coupled with Microsoft 365 services, Samsung’s Android phones are indeed great companions to a Windows 10 PC.
