Rockstar to formally announce GTA 6 by May 17, reportedly

Robert Collins

Word is that Rockstar Games parent company Take Two is going to officially announce Grand Theft Auto 6 on or before May 17th. Why is that particular date important? Because that is the date of the company’s next earnings call.

Speculation abounds on social media, with “insiders” like Hip Hop Gamer fueling much of that speculation without much to really go on.

You may recall last year’s fiasco regarding a major GTA 6 leak at the hands of a 17-year-old hacker who allegedly stole dozens of images and about 90 videos of game footage which was viewed all over the internet on YouTube and other social media sites before Rockstar was able to get it taken down.

As a billion-dollar franchise, a new Grand Theft Auto game is all but inevitable, and the game’s existence was unofficially confirmed over a year ago in a tweet from Rockstar Games.

The series’ millions of fans are no doubt hungry for more GTA, as it’s been nearly a decade since Grand Theft Auto 5. Still, this “news” doesn’t appear to be much more than sheer speculation, and should be taken with a grain of salt. Even if GTA 6 is unveiled soon, it wouldn’t likely be released until 2024 at least.
