Microsoft isn’t planning to shut Nokia’s romantic flings with rival Google’s Android. In fact the software and devices giant has already started planning the next iteration of its X lineup of phones that run the Android operating system. According to a report by BGR India, the next generation of phones in the X-family will sport a home button.
The X family — Nokia X, X+ and XL — only have a back button on the device. Though, to be fair long pressing on that button will take you to the homescreen, but users weren’t pleased by that concept. Since the X lineup doesn’t have a regular swipe down notification bar, and users are required to go to the home screen in order to reach Fastlane interface, inclusion of the home button will definitely make things convenient for the customers.
Nokia X is the first phone by Nokia which runs Android. Based on AOSP (Android Open Source Project), the phone sports a Windows Phone-esque interface. It lacks Google Mobile Services, and instead promotes Nokia and Microsoft services. Nokia hasn’t revealed the sales figures of these devices, but the phone did get an overwhelming response from the customers during pre-orders.
