Phone Insider App now labeled as Windows Insider app, in preparation of Windows 10 for phones

A little over two weeks ago, an app called “Phone Insider” appeared in the Windows Phone Store, convincing the world that Windows Phone 10, Microsoft’s next major mobile operating system update, was near. The app was relatively dormant and was pretty much useless, even through the Jan 21st Windows 10 event. Microsoft revealed during the event that Windows 10 for phones would be arriving to the Windows Insider Program in February for eager testers. Today, that app has finally seen some activity.

The app received an update today, changing its name from Phone Insider to Windows Insider. The Windows Insider application provides registered Insiders the ability to receive pre-release OS updates on their phone, directly from Microsoft. For more information about registering and becoming a Windows Insider visit http://insider.windows.com,” the app description reads. There is not much you can do with the app right now, but if you download it, you can be ready to test Windows 10 for phones when it becomes available in February — granted you signed up to be a part of the Windows Insider Program. We’ll let you know when the first build of Windows 10 for phones becomes available.
