Opera GX

Opera has launched a special version of its popular Opera Browser – Opera GX – built specifically to complement gaming.

Built for online gamers and streamers, Opera GX comes with additional functionality to let users set limit the browser’s access to RAM and CPU usage. Billed as GX Control, the feature will help gamers browse the Web while leaving system resources available for games or streaming applications running in parallel.

Of course, since it’s a ‘gaming browser’ there’s a dark design with customizable neon highlights as is popular in the ecosystem. There’s also gaming-inspired sound effects – a tad bit annoying, but thankfully, these can be turned off.

The browser comes with Twitch integration, allowing users to easily see channels they follow, who’s online, and receive notifications whenever someone they follow goes live – all in the browser’s sidebar.

Opera GX includes all the features present in Opera’s regular desktop browser, including the built-in ad blocker, support for detachable video popups, and a built-in VPN. It’s essentially an Opera++ edition, with all of Opera features plus additional functionality that would appeal to online gamers and streamers.

Opera GX is currently in early access, and only available for download for Windows users.
