The new Web Capture tool, which was recently spotted in the Microsoft Edge Canary channel, is now rolling out to a small set of users running Dev builds. The functionality was first spotted by a Reddit user u/Leopeva64-2, which shared a video of the feature in action.
Microsoft Edge Insiders (running Microsoft Edge Dev build 87.0.634.0 or higher) will be able to enable the tool by navigating to Settings >> Appearance. Then click on the “Show web capture button” to add the Web Capture option to the ellipsis menu.
To access this feature, open the ellipsis menu on Microsoft Edge and select “Web Capture.” After opening the Web Capture tool, users will see an option to capture either full or cropped screenshots from a webpage with some additional options to copy, save, or share them. As pointed out by u/Leopeva64-2, the “Web capture” button can be added to the toolbar by right-clicking on the ellipsis menu item and selecting “Show in toolbar.”
If the current implementation of the tool is a welcome change for users, it would be great if the company offers some additional capabilities like annotations before releasing it to the Stable version of Edge.
