Microsoft Store hacked in India, passwords and usernames exposed

Talk about a huge security breach, Microsoft’s online store in India was hacked today and usernames as well as passwords were stored in an unsecured manner and leaked to the internet revealing confidential payment information. Microsoft has some major explaining to do.

The Microsoft Store in India was hacked today by a Chinese hacker group not only defacing the store’s website but also revealing the store’s alleged database containing usernames and passwords. On top of that, Microsoft’s India Store users had their payment information exposed. The website, which is offline now, apparently stored passwords in an unsecured manner by having them saved in pain text, which is a horrible mistake by Microsoft if found to be true. Microsoft has yet to offer a comment regarding the security breach.
