Microsoft research climatology app released on windows phone. Nothing to get excited about

Yesterday we saw the release of Microsoft Research’s Climatology app. An app that was designed to provide detailed climate information from around the world.

Unfortunately, the app was only available on Android, something that clearly upset a few of our readers when we reported about its availability, and rightfully so. This hasn’t been the first time for Microsoft to prioritize Android over its own Windows Phone.

In Microsoft’s defense, the company has changed its ways since the appointment of CEO Satya Nadella, putting a focus on the new “mobile-first, cloud-first” strategy. This also saw Microsoft taking a more practical approach at releasing some of their apps, which makes sense considering Android’s undeniable market share and reach. Although the software and hardware giant have made it abundantly clear that when it comes to major features like Cortana, Windows Phone owners will always have the upper hand.

In any case, the Climatology app is now available to download on Windows Phone. Don’t get too excited though, the app is limited in functionality (on both platforms), and is bug-ridden. You can get it by hitting the download links below should you please.
