Microsoft Remote Desktop for Android gains NetBIOS support for easier connections

The Android app Microsoft Remote Desktop has been updated to version 8.0.3 and gained support for NetBIOS name resolution in the process. This is in addition to the usual raft of bug fixes that are to be found in just about any app update.

Tablets have evolved to the point that they can be used for just about any task you can machine, but there are some things for which a desktop is really needed. If you don’t fancy stepping away from your tablet, you can use a remote access tool such as Microsoft Remote Desktop to dial into your computer from another room, or even away from home, and use it on a smaller screen just as if you were sitting in front of it.

The addition of NetBIOS support means that there is no longer any need to battle with IP addresses if you don’t want to, as you are now able to use the computer’s name to establish a connection instead.

Grab yourself a copy of the app from the download link below, or head over to Google Play to bag the update if you already have the app installed.
