Microsoft Released Windows 11 KB5026372 Cumulative Update

Microsoft has released a new update for its ambitious OS, Windows 11.  The new cumulative update known as Windows 11 22H2 – KB5026372 is a  mandatory update that aims to fix several security vulnerabilities that could lead to cyber attacks, including three zero-day flaws. The update is also expected to introduce a range of improvements, bug fixes, and other changes.

What’s New in the Latest Windows 11 KB5026372?

After the update, the build number of Windows 11 22H2 will change to 22621.1635. Among the 20 changes that come with the update, some of the highlighted ones include the addition of new toggle control on the Windows Update settings page that allows Microsoft to prioritize devices for the latest updates and improvements.

Another improvement includes fixing a race condition in the Windows Local Administrator Password Solution (LAPS) that made the Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS) unresponsive. This issue was caused by the simultaneous processing of multiple local account operations, which resulted in an access violation error code of 0xc0000005.

In addition to the above improvements, Microsoft has animated some of the icons for widgets in the taskbar, fixed a Chinese input method issue that prevented Windows users from seeing suggested items, ensured protected content is no longer visible in taskbar live thumbnail previews, and added more drivers to the database of drivers not compatible with the Kernel-mode Hardware-enforced Stack Protection security feature

This latest update comes after a recent Microsoft Defender update added the Kernel-mode Hardware-enforced Stack Protection security feature to Windows 11 22H2 devices without any information on how it works.

Many users who enabled this feature reported that their programs would no longer work or Windows 11 would crash unexpectedly due to conflicts with installed drivers, specifically game-related drivers. Microsoft has addressed this issue by adding additional drivers to the database of drivers incompatible with the Kernel-mode Hardware-enforced Stack Protection security feature.

How to Install Windows 11 KB5026372 Update?

Installing the latest Windows 11 KB5026372 on your system is pretty straightforward.

  1. On your Windows 11 system, click the Start Button and select Settings from the Start Menu.
  2. Switch to the Windows Update tab on the left pane and click the Check for updates button on the right.
  3. Windows will automatically look for all the latest updates, including KB5026372, and download them.
  4. After Windows is finished downloading the updates, click the Install all button.
  5. Finally, restart the system to make the latest changes effective.

You can also download and install the latest Windows build from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Overall, the KB5026372 update is a must-have for Windows 11 22H2 users, as it brings several improvements, bug fixes, and enhanced security measures to protect against cyber threats.
