After Microsoft redesigned its Outlook.com web app to look more like the Windows 10 Mail and Calendar apps, the company confirmed that its webmail will also soon get a new dark theme option (via Windows Latest). This is currently one of the top requested features from users on the dedicated feedback website, and a Microsoft employee explained earlier this week on this same website that the dark Halloween theme we got last year was just a prototype.

“We’ve actually been working on Dark Mode for a few months now and you can expect this in the product soon,” wrote the Outlook.com advocate. “One reason for the delay is our insistence that we deliver the best Dark Mode of any leading email client,” he continued, adding that the Outlook.com team has “redesigned the colors and code multiple times and are proud to enter the final stretch.”
The presence of a dark theme option is slowly but surely becoming a standard for Microsoft apps, and Microsoft To-Do was the latest one to get the dark theme treatment on Windows 10. Many users still prefer to use the Outlook.com webmail instead of the built-in Windows 10 Mail app, and if you’re in that case the upcoming dark theme will certainly be much easier on your eyes.
